Alaska Helicopter Tour with Glacier Landing
Alaska is home to some of the largest glaciers on earth. Now you can explore this magical landscape by helicopter. Fly over ice towers and see icebergs calf into a glacial lake. Hover in front of the deep blue icewall and land on the glacier. Explore crevasses , meltpools and watch for wildlife like bears and moose on the mountainside. This is a trip you'll remember!
Land on a glacier
Immediately after take-off the Knik Glacier appears straight ahead. Wiithin a few minutes you are flying over this 6-mile wide and 28-mile long glacier. Zoom low over the surface and see turquoise melt pools, vertical walls of ice and immense crevasses. The helicopter lands in the middle of the glacier where the ice is up to 1000 feet thick. After the helicopter shuts down you can explore with your pilot / guide. Take pictures to show your friend back home and after about 15 – 20 minutes reboard the helicopter for the next part of this amazing tour.
Inner Lake George
Lake George is one of the most beautiful lakes in Alaska. Surrounded by rugged mountains and glaciers this is the inner sanctum of the Chugach Range. To the east lies the enormous Colony Glacier. A little to the left is the hanging Cataract Glacier, with waterfalls cascading down its sides. To the west, Whiteout and Troublesome Glacier originate from yet another ice field high in the mountains. This area and it is one of the premier habitats for mountain goats in Alaska. Bears and moose thrive in this sheltered valley and are often seen on our tours so keep an eye on the mountains.
