Affordable access to world-class hiking

From June until the end of September, you can enjoy the thrill of a helicopter tour combined with high alpine walking in South-central Alaska. There's just no better way to hike and we can make it happen! Come and experience the rugged Chugach Mountains away from the crowds. Our groups are only 2 – 5 people, so you’ll have plenty of quality time in the great Alaskan wilderness. 

Safe, convenient and great value

The helicopter takes off from Knik River Lodge. Located at the edge of the wilderness you only need a short flight to take you up the ridge behind the lodge, well above timberline. Your guide is an experienced naturalist, and will be able to tell you a lot about the area and the abundant wildlife and vegetation. In July expect endless wildflowers, in August and September it’s berry galore. We often see bears, moose and Dall sheep on our hikes and your guide will make sure these are safe and enjoyable encounters for our guests and the animals alike.

Hike on top of the world

The helicopter will drop you off in the high country where spectacular Alaskan scenery surrounds you. Together with your guide you determine ahead of time how long you wish to hike. Some people just want to stretch their legs and take pictures for one or two hours while others want to scramble all the way to the top of our ‘house mountain’. You can choose from 3 different difficulty levels of hiking/walking tours allowing you to cover just the amount of distance that is right for you. After your hike, you'll watch as your return flight comes in for a soft landing right beside your feet, - ready to lift you off the ground and whisk you back to civilization in a few short minutes.
