See it from the air

Always wanted to walk or climb on a glacier and explore the unique landscape of ice? Here is your chance! Immediately after take-off you are surrounded by the towering peaks of the Chugach Range. The massive Knik Glacier is straight ahead, an impressive 28-mile long, six mile wide river of ice. Look at Dall sheep, mountain goats, moose and bear on the steep mountain slopes on the way to this frozen wonderland.

Explore a glacier!

You’ll fly over The Gorge where a 100 feet high vertical ice wall creates a narrow passage into Lake George. Next you will land on the glacier, right in the middle of some of the most amazing mountain scenery in Alaska. One of our mountain guides will meet you and explain all about the special gear you will be issued like non-slip overboots and ice axes. After a final safety check you will venture out onto the ice and gain a unique perspective of this frozen landscape. See crevasses, melt-pools and stunning ice sculptures created by water, wind and sun. The total time on the glacier is approximately one and a half hour, but full day tours including ice-climbing are also available. On the way back you soar over places few others ever get to see like the wild, vertical cliffs of Mt. Gannett. Bring plenty of film or media cards for your camera!

Complete packages from Anchorage

For adventurers that do not spend the night in one of our cabins we have complete packages including hotel transfers from Anchorage and a meal in our award winning restaurant. When you return from your glacier adventure our chef will have a delicious lunch (for the morning tours) or dinner (for the afternoon tours) prepared for you. All our food is made from scratch using mostly organic, local ingredients. After your meal our shuttle takes you back to Anchorage where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

$369 per person. Included: total 30 minute helicopter flight and glacier landing, guided glacier exploration tour (approx. 90 minutes on the glacier)

Prices departing from Anchorage

Morning departures: $439 per person. Included: roundtrip shuttle from selected downtown Anchorage hotels, total 30 minute helicopter flight and glacier landing, dog sledding tour, lunch at Knik River Lodge.

 

Afternoon departures: $455 per person. Included: roundtrip shuttle from selected downtown Anchorage hotels, total 30 minute helicopter flight and and glacier landing, dog sledding tour, 3-course dinner at Knik River Lodge.
